The fourth ever London Childrens Film Festival is coming to the capital this November in the biggest film festival of its kind devoted to film and cinema for children and young people. Taking place at a number of venues across London, the 2008 Childrens Film Festival presents a collection of the best in childrens film, hosted by the Barbican and the ICO.

Back for 2008
The London Childrens Film Festival, hosted by the Barbican Centre and the Independent Cinema Office in partnership with Film London and Macquarie, is a unique London-wide film festival aimed at kids and family audiences. First staged in 2005 the festival returns this year, showcasing dozens of films including the best of current childrens world cinema and special preview screenings of films yet to be released in the UK.

Films in London
The Childrens Film Festival London is based at the Barbican and 8 other London venues, promising a far reaching film and cinema event for family audiences throughout the capital. Film screenings will take place at venues including: Barbican Cinema, Electric Cinema, Greenwich Picturehouse, Phoenix Cinema, Rich Mix, Rio Cinema, Ritzy Cinema and Stratford Picturehouse East.

Schools’ Programme
Separate primary and secondary Schools’ Programmes have been created up for 2008, designed to highlight the educational value of film and explore the medium on an intellectual as well as recreational level. Childrens Film Festival London screenings and events will be held at a number of venues, with various events for primary and secondary pupils.

Childrens Film Festival London events
Every year there are simply hundreds of events that take place during the London Childrens Film Festival. Whether your kids want to take part in the Make a Film in a Day workshop, get groovy with the London Jazz Festival Jazz Disco, sing along to a classic flick, see how to create a storyboard or just hit the Drop in Zone for more activities and screenings, there is plenty to see, do and make.

Film highlights
Some of the best new kids films will be screened during the festival, making for a fantastic celebration of childrens filmmaking talent. Fans of adventure will love the Kung Fu Kid, which will be followed by a Kung Fu Moves Workshop. Beautiful animation then comes your way from The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and the Moomins and the Midsummer Madness. Along with the Icelandic thriller No Network and The Ten Live of Titantic the Cat, there is something to please every film loving kid in London.

Interactive fun
As well as film screenings the Children’s Film Festival London also includes special workshops, giving visitors the chance to get hands on with film related activities. Highlights include puppet making, animation workshops and filmmaking classes, promising engaging film fun for young Londoners.
