The Apollo West End is the best West End multi-screen for 'big' movies. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, very comfortable seats, picture and the sound is immaculate, will go again tomrrow!

A small yet perfectly formed cinema that can easily be ignored, tucked away as it is. The screens, down in the depth of the streets of Piccadilly, are lined with a pleasant purple/pink decor mixed with browns and chrome.

The staff are very friendly and you get the impression that they don't see many people, hence the friendliness. I went to a matinee screening of Hairspray on its opening day, and there were only 10 of us in the screen.

The seats are incredibly comfortable, if a little snug. Large armrests and a natural backrest with excellent arena seating, so even the tallest person in front of you will not block your view. The screen, however, (in Screen 4) is small and you are literally on top of it. No need for glasses here. The film was in dolby stereo and the picture quality was excellent. Shame it wasn't digital, as other cinemas are turning to nowadays.

The confectionary is reasonably priced and the toilets are immaculate. A small bar and waiting area is also very welcoming.

If there is any criticism, its the closeness of the screens to the punters and the fact that even on a matinee when no one is about, they give out allocated seating. I almost ended up sitting next to the only other person in the place (I got there early) but decided that the young lady may feel uncomfortable.

Apart from that a first rate cinema and one that I will defintely be visiting again.
